What Is Strategy?

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, originally operated as a business intelligence software firm before transforming into the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder under Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.

The company is now widely viewed as a Bitcoin treasury vehicle because its core strategy revolves around raising capital through stock offerings, preferred shares, and debt instruments to continuously acquire more Bitcoin.

As a result, Strategy’s business model has become heavily tied to Bitcoin’s long-term price performance.

MSTR Stock Performance Closely Tracks Bitcoin

Strategy’s stock, MSTR, has become one of the most closely watched Bitcoin-related equities on Wall Street.

The stock often acts as a leveraged proxy for Bitcoin exposure because investors use MSTR shares to gain indirect access to BTC through traditional stock markets.

Over the past few years, MSTR has experienced extreme volatility alongside Bitcoin’s price movements. During strong Bitcoin rallies, the stock has significantly outperformed broader equity markets, while crypto downturns have also triggered sharp pullbacks.

Investor demand for Strategy shares has remained strong largely because the company controls more than 4% of Bitcoin’s total 21 million supply cap, making it one of the most influential institutional players in the crypto market.

With Bitcoin continuing to trade near record highs, Strategy’s growing unrealized profits and expanding treasury position are further strengthening its role as the largest corporate Bitcoin accumulator globally.
